The Medlar is a fruit which has been cultivated since Roman times, and is unusual in being available in winter. It is eaten when bletted and looks like a cross between an apple and a rosehip. I bought this tree in memory of my father, who told me tales of eating Medlars from the garden he was evacuated to in Bude. I bought the medlar tree and am now inundated with fruit from it.
